don't feel we did wrong in taking this great
country away from them. There were great numbers
of people who needed new land, and the Indians
were selfishly trying to keep it for themselves

In the spirit of equality, using Mr. Wayne's statement,
it would be acceptable to plunder his estate, exploit
its resources and distribute the spoils to the poorest
people in America, American Indians. I don’t
feel we are doing wrong in confronting the American
media regarding the disparity in addressing Native
issues. There are great numbers of American Indian
people who need the legal promises fulfilled and
debts incurred by this country to be honored. The
non-native media and the entertainment industry,
has made billions of dollars through exploiting
our images as well as misrepresenting our history
then selfishly kept it for themselves.
The
media has given itself entitlements that sponsor
demeaning American Indian stereotypes and have mischaracterized
American Indian identity. This promotion of American
entitlements, at the expense of the American Indian
people, connotes the existence of a class privileged
to dismiss Native rights, dignity, and oftentimes
the truth, without consequences; a John Wayne class
of bullies, ignoramuses and hypocrites . These privileges
of entitlement resemble racist propaganda and beliefs
rather than ideas of fairness, equality and balance.
American Indians ought to have as much right to
the airwaves as any other group in America. The
media is charged with presenting issues of importance
in the public interest. The media is often nowhere
to be found when it comes time to cover the issues
of injustice and inequality which are regular political
and social occurrences victimizing American Indians.
The exception to this lack of media inclusion takes
place when there is a happenstance that allows the
media to demonize American Indians and their interests.
